Dr Thng Yongxian is a dual fellowship-trained Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) and General Surgeon, with surgical procedures performed. He specialises in minimally invasive liver and pancreatic surgery, combining advanced laparoscopic expertise with a patient-centred approach.

Dr Thng underwent subspecialty training in HPB surgery at the Department of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery, Singapore General Hospital, followed by a clinical fellowship in Minimally Invasive HPB Surgery at Seoul National University Hospital in Bundang, South Korea. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, reflecting his commitment to surgical excellence and continual learning.
He previously served as Consultant and Clinical Lead for the HPB Division at the National University Health System (NUHS), where he pioneered his hospital’s laparoscopic HPB program. Under his leadership, up to 80% of complex HPB surgeries — including Whipple procedures, distal pancreatectomies, and major liver resections (e.g. ALPPS) — were performed using minimally invasive techniques.
Currently, Dr Thng practises at Mount Elizabeth (Orchard and Novena), Parkway East, Mount Alvernia, and Gleneagles Hospital, continuing his commitment to delivering value-driven, evidence-based care.
